Surface Noise Issue 4 – Dec 2021

Can you believe that it’s nearly the end of the year already? Honestly where does the time go? In many ways the year has been another write off thanks to Covid.

On the music front however, it has been a fine year. I’ve discovered loads of new bands, bought too much vinyl, read a load of other zines and seen some live shows again. Best of all though, is the burgeoning community in the UK DIY scene that has brought together a number of different bands and labels from across the country. There is a real sense of support, encouragement and sharing in the Discord and I’m really enjoying being a part of that community.

As my last issue of the year I have taken the oportunity to have a look back what I have enjoyed over the last 12 months in an end of year review. There is the return of Me, My Collection & I starring Callum form Into The Red. There is a new feature; Under The Influence where I Feel Fine discuss the influence Crash of Rhinos have had on their music. There are also interviews with heavenly creature records and Closer. There are reviews of Brutalligators, Clay Lake, CHERYM and Sleep Outside. I also rank the albums of my all time favourite band The Get Up Kids. // Purchase a copy
